Loose pylon, how do I tighten it

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I just purchased a 04 Malibu response Lxi.  I absolutely love the boat.  The thing is a rocket ship and skis great.  I just got a barefoot boom for it and while installing the clamp I noticed that the pylon rotates a couple degrees left and right.  It does not wobble at all just rotates.   I expected to find some U bolts to tighten when I looked under the floor but it see s that there is no access to the pylon from either the engine compartment or the ski locker I front of the pylon.  I searched on here and someone said to loses a screw and tap pylon with a piece of wood and a hammer and then tighten the screw.  Anybody know what screw they are talking about.  Thanks everyone for all of the help.

I must have missed it at first glance.  I will look again next weekend when I am back at the boat.  Hopefully my pylon in the Lxi is or installed the same as your response.   Thanks for the quick reply.
