2005 Malibu 23 LSV

I missed my 2008 Malibu 23 LSV that I had to sell 3 years ago.  I am back hunting for it.  I can't afford newer boat but I am looking at 2005 Malibu 23 LSV for $32K with Monsoon (500 hours) and manual wedge.  I am spoiled with power wedge.  Do I really need power wedge for surf?  Is it good price?  Thanks

Sounds like a good price to me for a good to excellent condition boat.  I use my manual wedge all the time. I can see how a power wedge would be nice but oh well. We mostly wakeboard so someone else can help with the surf setup. Ronnie has a few great posts about setting up our boats for surfing.  What year did the power wedge start?

I sold my really good condition 05 VLX in Feb with 500 hrs for 31k and it was cheapest one listed anywhere at the time so I think it's a good price for this time of year. I would rather have a boat with manual wedge than one with no wedge and it wasn't a pain in the butt at all.  Only when the water was 40* did I complain about it.

The only thing with 05's are the damper plate.  I never had an issue with mine but it worried me so if I had to sell mine and buy older again I would find out what year the heavy duty plates were started (either in 06 or 07) and start from there.

It was 06, and it seems to be hit or miss on them. At that price you wont find an 06 anywhere near there until the dead of winter, so I would say do it. If you turn wrenches you can always fix it. We surf just fine with manual wedge. It would be nice to adjust it at times but we still have a blast.
