Replacement Fuel Injectors

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a 1999 Malibu Sunsetter VLX with Indmar Monsoon 5.7L MPI.  The boat had not be started for several years and after cleaning the fuel system and lines, it appears that fuel injectors are too bad to clean.  Has any one used automotive replacement fuel injectors and if so, do you have the part #'s?  They look like they are the same as a 1997 Chev Camaro 5.7L MPI.

The fuel lines and fuel rail had a lot of trash from the fuel drying up, so I cleaned out the lines and then put injectors in cleaning fluid.  I then tried to run fuel through the injectors with compressed air @ 40 psi and a nine volt battery. You can hear injector pin moving but only a drop will come out, no spray like you should see.  I believe that are past restoring.  I thought about sending off for refurb but they indicate that the injectors can not be too far gone.  Hoping someone else had replaced theirs with refurb'd automotive injectors, out marine service center wants almost $200 per injector and automotive injectors are $40 each.

Yes, thank you stevod83, I tried the 9v battery trick with injector & carberator cleaner, only get a drop out here and there.  I like the suggestion from shastasurf for 24 lb rebuilt injectors for 189.00 but would like to hear feedback from someone that has installed a set like that.

I had looked in this not long ago and thought there was an online site that would rebuild and or sell a set of rebuilt indmar injectors. I was thinking they were rated in gallons per hour. I dont remember the site  but it was either mentioned on this board or i just googled  and found it.
