So I have my 5 and 7year olds wakeboarding now. They are super stoked as am I. The problem is the wake is all washed out between 10 and 16 mph. I've tried adding bow ballast. That helped a little bit. What else can I do? Don't want a big wake just a clean one. The boat is an 07 vlx diamond hole.

17 mph

Having said that, I would focus more on surface tricks and riding switch now until they get more comfortable at 17-18 mph. Just keep them on the water and get them as many pulls as they can stand and they will progress quickly. I find that having a set agenda for each session helps us stay focused and progress.

In my 01 VLX I could get it clean at about 15.5 but only with everyone up front.

when my little bloke was learning at about 12mph the CFO would drive and I would walk across the bow in front of the windscreen to clean up one side at a time.

late model boats just put the wedge in lift.

From past experience towing a lot of little kids on wakeboards I would just be more concerned about going slow, last thing you want to happen is having a young kid catch a face plant trying to clean up a wake.  A hard fall can really scare them off when first starting out.  I am guessing they are still at a beginner level and reality is cleaning up the wake won't affect there riding much at this point.  On top of what others have mentioned you can always move people to each side to help clean up the wake when they are coming back over.

I miss this boat...

14mph behind a Response.  With the addition of a boom, a Response is an awesome boat for teaching kids to ride.  Boy is 6 in this picture.
