Waiting for sound

I purchased a new 2015 LSV23 a month ago and i have been waiting all this time for my tower speakers to be installed by the dealer. After about a dozen emails back and forth here is the response that we got from the factory...

"This is a Malibu Made Part. I do see where you are coming from that we are showing 120 in stock but they either still need to be put together or they are set aside for production. Unfortunately we have a plant wide shut down in CA and TN locations 30June-12July. This is the yearly shutdown that happens every year. The build time for this item runs into the shutdown. Unfortunately this means if the part wasn’t completed today it will not be completed until after shutdown."

Not sure why it took a month to figure out that they were going to be closed for 2 weeks or why their inventory showed 120 in stock but not available to customers who already purchased them but i am not very happy with Malibu right now to say the least!

Was it a custom build, or did you buy a dealer stock boat and they want to add the wetsounds? If they are waiting for the Malibu logo'd REV-8's , check the cost on them on your invoice and compare it too what you can buy from a local wetsounds dealer. Id push them to come up with some sort of solution, other that waiting for them to open up next week. Are all the amps and tower brackets installed?

sounds like they dropped the ball and stay on them about it. Personally i may not have taken delivery on the boat without them

It was a stock boat with the agreement that they would install the speakers and amp when they came in. It was supposed to be at the same time as my 10 hour service which was done 3 weeks ago!

is there a line item for that stuff on your invoice?

I had my dealer add towers / sub / amp as part of my deal, it was turned in 5 days. In hindsight i should of taken that stuff off the price of the boat and bought My Exile or Wetsounds stuff on my own. i sold off the dealer installed stuff on craigslist.

because you are getting wetsounds from the dealer you will most likely be ok with the set up. but if you have followed up a few times since the delivery. Id start pushing for them to give you something for your time. Not sure where you are located, but for some boat owners the season is only a few months long, and you are a month into a roughly $90k boat purchase and they have not delivered on their agreement.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would def find a reputable local ws dealer and price them to finish the job and take the quote to my dealer and sit down and discuss fulfilling my contract in a timely manner. They have not fulfilled your contract. Maybe the dealer offers to pay the for the ws guy to finish the job and cancels the Malibu order?? Dealer should be able to cancel the order with Malibu no prob.

Good luck and don't kill anyone!
