Ignition problem

Engine starts fine cold, but dies randomly, usually after a just  few minutes of running fine.  Doesn't matter if running idle or higher RPMs, it just wants to suddenly die.  Sometimes it will have trouble starting after its died a few times, but will usually start up after a few tries or after waiting a few minutes.  I already replaced fuel pump, ignition coil, cap & rotor, wires, plugs, and crank position sensor.  After double checking cap and rotor, I forgot to plug in the 3 wire connector underneath it (it has a red/brown/yellow wire ) and all of a sudden the engine ran great at idle for half an hour with no problems.  I plugged the 3-wire connector back in and the engine started fine, but died w/ in 1 minute.  Any ides?  (BTW 
I have Marine Power 5.7 MPI 2003 on a Tige 24V)

ignition module in distributor?

Have you checked the timing?  The fact that it runs ok with the distributor connector unhooked makes me wonder if the base timing is screwed up
