Broke off oil sending unit fitting

Recommended Posts

Went to change out my faulty oil sending unit yesterday and broke off the brass fitting inside the block. Im pretty certain I can get the old brass fitting out, but where do you guys buy parts for your motors. I go to the local NAPA and they look at me cross eyed when I tell them I have a Indomar 335 Monsoon or a Chevy 335..... I need to find that brass housing that the oil sending unit and the other sensor both live in. Thanks guys

You're local auto parts store as well as Lowes/ Home Depot have brass fittings.

You can almost certainly get that part at NAPA.  there are two different oil sensors on your engine, so I'm not sure exactly sure which one you are talking about, but I had one go bad on my '04 Sunscape and am almost certain that I got it at NAPA.   if not there, it was O'Reilly's or Autozone.  It was something close to $10-$12.

Edit - re-reading your post.  I'm not sure about the brass fitting, but it shouldn't be a unique Marine part.  Since the auto version of the sensor is going into it, I'd think you could get the fitting at an auto parts store too.

i suspect that gob of brass is indmar's mess not oem gm.

mine pulled a hairline fracture and i found much nicer (substantial) replacements at the big box stores.

suspect it's too late for ten 4x4 but found a pix after the retrofit, thought sharing may give others an idea.
