Bob sold some of his shares to two guys.

Malibu is now a LLC, and that's about it

According to public records, there is now a Malibu Boats Holdings, LLC and a Malibu Boats, LLC, both formed late June/early July. Malibu Boats West, Inc. is still an active corporation. Looks like some restructuring has taken place.

Liability issues I'd imagine were a driver in this restructuring. I wouldn't even really call it a sale.

Doubt that was it since the existing entity was already a corporation. More likely a tax issue - they probably needed an LLC so that the new investors could own a piece and still get flow-through taxation. As somebody said earlier Bob may just have wanted to take some cash out.

Sounds like it's all a non issue and won't affect us regular folks.

It is kind of fun though. Son, whose away from the computer for the summer is pretty concerned. He's been asking me daily what's going on. I told him Gekko is buying Malibu and bringing back the Sportster, only it's going to be the low end Gekko with just the Sportster name.

He's not amused.
