Board Repair

Hopefully this is in the right place. So I have this Ronix Coal board I purchased last fall. Finally got out to ride a couple weeks ago and love the board. However, after a few rides I noticed a break around the fin. I think it hit on the swim deck. I have looked all over and cant find a way to repair. I have thought about holding it in place and epoxying it in. Does anybody have experience or ideas to repair?

Thanks

I would recommend calling a surf board repair shop and asking them. I doubt the Ronix customer service guys have too much experience fixing fin plugs. Surf repair shops do a ton of these a day. It's really common and easily repaired.

Thanks for the help

I actually found a couple in SF. and San Rafael. Waiting to hear back from them. Dont really know if it will be worth it, by the time I travel to drop it off and pick it up. Also I got the board cheap enough, I am thinking about repairing myself and buying another board. That puts another board on the boat. If I do repair it myself, I will post back as to how and how long it lasts.

just make sure you know if it is fiberglass or epoxy.  They take a different resin for repairs.  repairs are pretty simple although working around a fin might be a little more challenging if the fin has been bent or moved at all.

All boards use fiberglass whether it is carbon, e glass or s glass. Any resin can be used on any glass.

The type of resin and foam are what is crucial when doing board repairs. Epoxy resin must be used with EPS foam. Other resins will eat away EPS. Polyester resin is used on PU foam. Any resin can be used withPVC foam.

I retract my statement. Thanks for clearing that up wakemitch. I just know I had to use the epoxy goop on my inland surfer boards.  Wasn't sure why but now I know.
