Water leak from front side of impeller

Recommended Posts

So boat ran great for 5 days during the Memorial Day holiday! On the end of the 5th day noticed the bilge taking on quiet a bit of water while driving down the lake. After looking through a few things noticed water was shooting out impeller housing at front plate. Also noticed that a corner of the seal/gasket was sticking out of the side of the housing. Left the boat at the lake house and will be headed back up in the morning. I'm kicking myself for not checking if all the screws were still there! My question is what could have caused this? Can the gasket fail or "blow out"?  Btw this happened after some heavy weight surfing...not sure if that will help at all. Thanks guys

Mine did this last week one of the screw heads holding the impeller cover plate broke off. Luckily when you take all the screws out there should be enough to hand thread the broken screw out and replace it if it is cracked. Hopefully your screw is just loose!

Good to hear! Hoping for a loose screw as well. I was too pissed to mess with it when we came off the water...kicking myself now

**UPDATE**

No loose or missing screws. The white gasket had literally blown out of the side for whatever reason causing a big gap in the seal. Popped a new gasket in problem solved. Thanks for the help guys.
