Malibu Touch Command Issues

Recommended Posts

I'm still working on the fix, guys.  Be patient.  I think we'll get there.  My friend that is helping me is going through one of his busy seasons (he does a lot of school districts iOS and ChromeBook services as well as sales.... it's very hectic for him right now.)

I was told each year has its own software

Correct. They are also dependent on which ECM the engine has as well.

Throwing the wrong software on it runs a chance of bricking the unit.

I thought the 7" MTC was only a display/slave unit and that the software was in the main display?

The 7" screen on the 15-17 models contains the brain. The 12" screen is the "dummy".

I think the dealer needs my boat to confirm what software is needed and then downloads it from Malibu and checks that everything is working on the screen.

There is absolutely no "specific" software for different years, motors, etc.  but hey....if you want to pay a dealer to do it go for it. JB156 is correct as well

How much money are you willing to bet?

Model year specific, MEFI or Econtrols specific and on some years stereo specific.

I'm a wrench, I know.

Want to see any more years?

Wait wait, is there delamination happening on the newer MTC's as well?

No, I think everyone discussing here has a pre-2015. I know it was mentioned above but I haven't seen anyone post about a new MTC having the issue.

All new screens are the same but software is different. Maybe I will be able to make the surfgate icon work with go surf assist.

2015 to 2017 screens are different for each year.

I don't think those screens factor into any discussion in this thread though. Unless we are talking a TXi. I could be wrong though..

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I read his post as asking about the new screens.

Well I thought I was getting a new screen this week but the dealer just informed me that Malibu is out of stock. Expected drop ship date from manufacturer is June 26th. I'm out of town so looks like it will be after the 4th on July for the re-screen. Hope it lasts.

^^^^ This isn't good.

Gee, why are they out of stock? Could it be these things are a high failure item? Apparently enough to be out of stock but not enough to warrant a recall.

Totally agree. Come on Malibu step up to the plate.
