So forum members I have been blessed with a job offer in Atlanta, GA. Obviously I need to take care of what is important first and get information from any locals on where to ski, lakes in the area to start looking at housing etc..... I will be working at the airport so please keep that in mind when making suggestions. Thank you in advance for all the help.

Well, the airport is on the south end of town near both 85 and 75. Just looking around on Google Maps, I'd probably check out West Point Lake. It looks to be about an hour from the airport.  Maybe Lake Oconee or Sinclair to the S. East?

Lake Lanier is the only lake in that area I have ever been to, but its on the North East side of town.

I grew up on Jackson lake.  Still pretty tame, not that crowded, good size, etc.  It is maybe 45 minutes from the airport.  The problem, if you are trying to live down there, is the 75/675 interchange around MM 222-224, somewhere in there (Hudon Bridge Rd).  It is always atrocious.  I am not sure how many launches are on the lake, though.  There weren't many when I was a kid, and the biggest one (Kersey's - spelling is probably off) is now OOB (I believe they are all private/marina).  Most of the other lakes around there are a bit more crowded.
