Budget build complete in 90's skier

Let me start by saying , I know I will not be wining any sound contest or be the loudest on the lake . That was not the goal , If the budget was bottomless then other products would have been used.

Now with that out of the way , I am very pleased with the all around sound that has came from the build . Does everything I wanted and then some extra. When I bought the boat last Oct . There was a blown 12 in the bow with no amp , single battery and 6.5 30rms alpines that sounded horrible . The build included add a 2nd deep cycle group 29, 300x1 class d punch , 600x4 class d prime , kick 6.5 tower package , kicker 4-6.5 inboats and a 10" ported sub . There has also been a sub bass knob added that i do not have a photo of . The last piece needed is a new head unit ; I am open to suggestions on this . Not really wanting an 420 eq , Have the tower speakers ran to the rear port on the amp and the inboats ran to the front port so i can fade the towers with the wiring ran this way.

With everything all said and done, build cost came in around $1,100.00

any input on how important it is for the head unit to be "marine" if the HU is going into a water proof case with a cover?

case installed on my dash is like this but without the built in wires

Like a marine amp, a marine head-unit will have a comformal coated PCB, a sealed top chassis or at least a protective shield for water run off. Some of the higher end units has stainless chassis and some are completely sealed like a fusion or aquatic AV head unit. A case or cover may help with splash contact but may not help with the humid conditions we find in boats.

Your mileage may vary but I have had two non marine hu's in my boat since new and they have not experienced any issues.  Mine is located under the armrest. I changed the original to gain usb inputs but it is still perfectly fine.

Nice work on the installation.  I just upgraded my stereo as well ...three amps and some tower speakers.
