2007 VLX help needed

All,

I just purchased a new cover for the boat and the overall fit around the boat is good. The tower cutouts however are a different story. The holes for the cover are about 2-3 inches too far forward and I have to stretch the heck out of the cover just to get it around the backside of the tower.....and I'm left with about 3 inches of open space on the forward side of the tower. The seam is so tight that I know it won't last that long without splitting. So now I'm trying to figure out if my tower was mounted further aft than specs or if the cover was manufactured wrong.

Of course the company is already stating that their cover is built to Malibu specs......

i measured from the aft windshield frame to the front of my illusion X and it's exactly 10.5 inches. Can some of you measure what you have on similar boats and let me know your results?

ive got a call in to Malibu as well and am waiting on a response.

thanks in advance,

Brian

10 1/8" is what I have. You sure it not made to Malibu specs for a different year with G3 tower or hull such as the 2007 VTX?

Sonny,

the manufacturing tag on the cover shows the right year and model with the illusion X.

Even with 10 1/8 like yours it would be stressing the seams.

Thanks!

I have actually heard that the OEM covers have been known to be off by this much. The tower mounting is not an exact science so they can be off 1-3 inches... resulting in this predicament. I just bought a new one from a shop that lost their Malibu license and they gave me the buy at your own risk disclosure. Back in the day they would just send them to a tailor to me adjust for the oops factor i guess.
