RGB LED Strips on trailer

I've searched high and low for some good pictures/instructions on wiring these things up.  FYI-When it comes to wiring I'm noobier than a noob!  I'm going to tap into the running lights (brown wire) as I believe that is the best option.  Will be doing this toward the tongue of the trailer if that matters.  If someone has pictures of the actual connections they made to the trailer wiring that would be great!

So far, I have a an rf transmitter.  The middle top and the top right in the attached picture.

I also have a have RGB LED splitter to run two strips on either side of the trailer from the transmitter.

My question is how to tap into the trailer lights from the 12v power coming from the transmitter?  Do I need to ground the transmitter itself?  To do the tap....what would people recommend?  Soldering, special connector, etc....

I was going to try and come up with a creative way of waterproofing them.  Silicone, shrink wrap tubes etc...  They would also be in the tongue of the trailer and would not be getting submerged.

There are many kits made for trailers with more robust waterproof connections. I'd look closer at those. Wiring would be easy enough, just tap the 12v positive for running lights at the trailer tongue and ground to the trailer.
