Perfect pass will not work

Recommended Posts

 Greetings,

My name is Dan and I am a proud new owner of a 2005 VLX the weather in Ohio is finally getting decent I was out on the water last weekend and was unable to get my perfect pass system to operate . The system has power however it will not engage I have investigated and found an open connection in the dash. The tachometer is also not functioning at all.  Please see pictures and any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Not sure the version here is the module under the dash. I tried all modes, ski, rpm, wakeboard with no luck. You could hear an audible beep but the perfect pass never took over. Speedo works fine as well as the paddle wheel. raw?appid=YahooMailMobile&ymreqid=926e43

The 2005 had a special interface with PP.  In 2004 you had to run power and tach signals separately to the PP.  2005 had a unique interface and wiring harness that goes inline between the engine computer and the dash.  Very easy to install.  They changed to a different interface in 2006.  Suggest you call PP and describe your problem.  The special harness is where the PP gets power and the tach signal.  The fact that your tach is not working may be a key.  If you can find the harness try cleaning the male and female ends of it and the stock wiring it plugs into with contact cleaner.  If you have the manual it has a picture of the harness.

The 05 comes with wakeboard pro PP.  it will not catch if you hammer down the throttle.  It will shoot way past the targeted speed and very slowly back down speed.  To help it, try letting off the throttle a bit when you get up to the target speed (like to about half throttle).  Once it catches it will take over, you just have to drive somewhat manually on take offs until you get to speed.  If it still won't take over, call PP and have them help you troubleshoot.

@MalibuDan:  I would also suggest going to the PP website and reviewing the available troubleshooting manuals and video options.  Good info available on the site along with excellent support from PP.

Looks like I had a couple issues, servo was froze as well an a loose wire under the dash. Should be good to go when the new servo gets here
