USB question

In my 2016 LSV, there is a USB plug in the dry box by the throttle.  Is that connected to the stero or is it just a charge point like the one on the dash?

In my 15vlx the usb in the glove box is the one connected to the stereo.

Just FYI My dealer told me it's better not to use the port in the dash as that's the port they use for updates and sometimes your phone can screw with the maliview.

The USB in glove box goes to head unit but the one in dash should NOT be used but for updates as stated above.

Is the one in the dash being referred to the one in the glovebox or is this referencing another location?  I've got a 15 LSV and don't recall a usb port in the dash?
