Hey everyone,

ok, so wanting to know if there is a way to clean the rub rails... I believe the "white" scratches are wax that is in the rub rail scratches.  Any help or ideas how to make this look nice again??

thx!

Looks to be wax in the scratches but you will laugh at what I used on my old Malibu that had all black rub rails. Turtle Wax chrome polish. No clue why but it doesn't leave a white residue and shined up the black rub rail. It was a total mishap that I found it to work pretty good. I think I was polishing the stainless grab handle on the transom and got some on the rub rail.

First try water based wax and grease remover sold at any automotive paint supply.  Or make your own with 50/50 water and isopropyl alcohol.  A toothbrush will help too.

you could also try peanut butter...seriously.  Peanut butter and a toothbrush works great on vehicle's black trim pieces that have been whitened/stained by traditional waxes.   Obviously you wipe it off after applying.
