Amp Board Removal

For those of you who have removed their amp board in a 15 or 16 VLX to make modifications/additions were the existing wires long enough to remove board and pull out of cubby to work on?  If not what did you all do about the connections and amp gain adjustments?  Did you crawl in there and do everything from inside?

Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

Most of it's not long enough to get it out to work on it; the shortest leads on mine were the main power leads, and you don't want to cross those up! Make sure you have some tape or other way to seal off the exposed wire of the + battery lead. Everything else is zip-tied behind the board so it looks clean when installed. Even with a label maker and pictures you'll still be wondering why things are hooked up the way they are... You'll void the warranty, but the first thing I would do is remove the covers on the amps and pull the "warranty void" stickers off the level adjustments and tune the gains for the speakers.

Yes crawl in there, quickest way to get it done because the board will not remove with wires connected.
