22 MXZ 2013 new to us. In the UK

04 VLX WINDERMERE UK

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just thought I would share our new addition, 22 MXZ which I think is the only one here in the UK. Got to say Mike Dovey of Mavin Marine (Malibu's UK dealer) has been top notch and good to deal with. He is adding an extra swivel rack as well as moving the LPG tanks (duel fuel).

Use it mainly on Lake Windermere despite the speed limit and we take it to Loch lomond, Scotland, for a week once a year, very scary transporting the boat as the roads are very narrow the last 8 miles up the side of Loch Lomond. It will be the first Duel fuel (petrol and LPG) boat I will have owned. There is no petrol now on windermere but LPG at the marina where we keep her. It has a Prinns multi point injection system on it. I have heard good and bad about LPG with the engines running hot etc., but am assured that the modern systems are far better controlled than the single injection IMCO systems used on Carb engines.

LPG is about half the price of petrol over here, and while you would need to use a awful lot for the LPG instal on the boat to break even, it was already fitted and it is a lot more convenient with LPG on site where we keep the boat. With petrol we have to either trailer the boat the the filling station or fill jerry cans as there is no petrol on the lake anymore.

I guess you are going to focus on surfing with a 11.5mph speed limit. Good thing they raised it from 10mph although I'm not sure anyone could tell the difference between 10 and 11.

Some picks of the new tanks, to free up the rear lockers for Ballast PNP Sac's. You can see the injection valves and evaporator on top of the motor. The engine starts on Petrol then changes to LPG shortly after its started.
