Help me make a "new boat owner" Amazon Wish List

You may not need that much prop for that boat. Are you planning on listing it or adding a surf system? I say that because LBJ runs a 1235 on his listed LSV running quite a bit of weight and he is just now looking to upgrade based on his thread a little bit ago because it only sometimes hits the wall. I actually think a 1235 on your VLX would do good through the entire spectrum, surfing, boarding, cruising.

If you are adding a surf system you may need more prop.

I did another thread on that actually and the consensus was grab the 2419 (dealer offered 2419 or 1235) because even if I want a different prop the 2419 will be worth more in trade/sale. The thought was I could easily get a 1235. But more likely a more aggressive pitch 15"

Good point. I read that thread, but didn't make the connection :)

In truth I am guessing I will end up running the 2419 until gas prices go up again :)

Love this little guy.

Well, not exactly "little."

I got a decent size first aid kit, then beefed it up significantly. Added several different sizes of bandaids in numerous amounts, and an ace bandage wrap in case of sprains. We use small travel liquid containers, but keep antibacterial soap and hydrogen peroxide in them. Added extra latex gloves in a ziplock bag. Always date what we put in there so I know how old it is. Best thing I've done with the boat, honestly. I'm always shocked at the lack of supplies that some boat owners have on board.

Side note: Check your flares, they're probably expired. Not that it matters, but I like to have up to date stuff.

We have small storage containers with lids and keep everything in there. It keeps everything dry, and it's always organized. When it comes time to clean the storage sections, I pull out 4 containers, instead of 50 loose items.

Always have an extra quart of oil, trans fluid, latex work gloves, zip ties, duct tape (if you can't duct it, f... nevermind), electrical tape, heat shrink butt connectors, sharp knife, I keep 2-3 razor blades on there but haven't needed them yet,

I keep four of these on board: http://www.amazon.com/Invincible-Marine-15-Foot-Double-15-Feet/dp/B005XWKOZ6/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1454368364&sr=8-13&keywords=marine+docking+rope And then 4-5 smaller 6' "dock ropes" for quick tie-ups. They're actually probably bumper ropes, but they work for when you are tying up to a dock in calmer water.

Flashlight, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QSV8BKQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=OJUAS5ZS3VFE&coliid=IBXZOC7MEDMS7&psc=1

I believe these are the batteries that go with it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009LX94LI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=OJUAS5ZS3VFE&coliid=I3QT6YF42YXMD9&psc=1

These: http://www.amazon.com/Certified-Apple-ACEPower%C2%AE-Cigarette-Lightning/dp/B00LK9OW4A/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1454368012&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=usb+ciga

Extra charge cords dedicated for the boat only.

Something like this is always handy, never know when you need to charge a camera battery or plug in the charger for the flashlight etc.

Misc stuff - couple of lighters (even if you don't smoke, always helps to be able to melt rope ends to keep them from fraying, sterilize needles if someone gets a splinter etc.)

Safety pins, twist ties (works on bikini tops if the little plastic connector breaks)

I've tried just about every vinyl cleaner out there, so far (for my boat, anyway) this has worked the best: http://www.amazon.com/Boat-Bling-VS-Detailing-Product/dp/B006GJYKWI/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1454368680&sr=1-1&keywords=vinyl+sauce

I always keep spare sunglasses because eventually you'll have a guest that loses theirs. I use these, because 1. 'Murica. 2. it's easier for them to remember to give them back cause they're not normal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZDJTIN8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

I keep 2 spare ball caps, hair ties for chicks, lots and lots of koozies.

Man, there's all sorts of stuff I keep on board.

Oh, and these are the best boat wipe down towels I've used.

http://www.amazon.com/Zwipes-Premium-Absorbent-Microfiber-Drying/dp/B00H72YFTG/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=02SVBSZ9C63GSA4BYRMD

They have pockets on the end to slide your hands into so you're not having to "grab" the towel and bunch it up. I have like 5-6 of them on the boat, but I use them for my cars as well.

Lots of sunscreen. Vests of different sizes, especially for a very little one. Jumper cables. Beach towels for someone who forgot theirs.

Steve B.

NO SPRAY ON SUNSCREEN(not yelling, but important). It can cause issue with your vinyl.

Trash bags.

Good first aid kit.

Air horn (whistles not really loud over distance)

Dawn soap (gas spills and good cleaner for bilge)

Extra dock lines and carabiners.

2 oars/paddles. 1 is a joke.

MacGyver kit.

You keep two oars on your boat?? Where do you put them?

Who needs ballast with all this stuff on board,.......I feel so unprepared

Only thing I will add is Flair gun.......mostly because they are also fun to shoot

We have 2 paddleboard paddles under the left side seats, the inflatable paddleboards are in the left rear compartment.

Where do you put all the ballast? Doesnt this totally screw with the balance of your boat? Maybe Im the only one that really cares about that.

How many pieces or flair gun do you think would be appropriate?

My ballast tanks are under the floor, don't have any bags. Primary use for my boat is waterskiing anyways. Don't really have any balance issues, the stuff in the rear compartments is pretty even weight.
