Price for a 2007 Malibu Sunscape

Does anyone have any idea what a fair price would be for a 2007 Malibu Sunscape 247 LSV? I have seen them in the 40K to 50 K price range. Is there a specific engine that is prefered?

Thanks for your thoughts on this topic

40 would be a good deal. 50k you need to talk them down some. I'd say around 45 would be the most I'd pay. The Wakesetters bring a little more. 2007 was a great year for those boats. Is there a specific one you are looking at?

If I had it to do all over again I would have looked a little harder for the 8.1L engine for my 247. The 383 HH is a monster with the right prop for the application but has some quirks that bug me. That said, the 8.1 should fetch 45-50k with average hours and condition. JMO.

I have owned lots of boats with the small block Monsoon engine. I have also had two 23 LSV's with the HH. My current boat is a 247 with the 8.1. The Monsoon and HH boats never felt under powered until I spent some time with the 8.1. I have never driven a 247 with a smaller engine, but I don't think I would be happy.

Is the 383 Hammerhead the same as the 8.1 you are refering to. What are the major quirks? Is it unbearable on gas?

Not sure on gas, some say the 8.1 doesn't have to work as hard so it may be more efficient, might be owner goggles though :dontknow: Most HH's burn oil, like over a quart between oil changes. Then Indmar said that's normal and sent out longer dipsticks and said you could add an extra quart. Most people have to run a heavier oil than the recommended 15-40 in order to avoid low oil pressure alarms. Its near impossible to drain all the oil out for oil changes. No matter how high I pitch the boat to starboard transom the best I can do is 3.5-4 quarts. Theres a rattling sound in idle forward due to the loping hotrod cam (this one really bugs me!!)....but other than that I love it  Seriously though I believe I've find the right prop for my uses and I've never ran out of power.

I'm kinda keeping my eyes open for a Sunsetter LXi, so when you are ready, make sure you post it in the classifieds here, or let us/ me know !

Good luck in your boat quest.

Thanks,

Steve B.
