LSV 13' Sg vs 14/15'

Apart from the actuators and the knob on the 15' models, is there much diff in the surf wake on these models? I've noticed the 14/15 have a larger sg tab, do they produce a larger wake?

Also, if the 14/15 is indeed better from the larger tabs, can they be fitted to a 13' model? How about the faster actuators? I'd imagine they'd be a plug and play mod. This is in regards to lsv's only, or, at least that's all I'm looking at for comparison.

Let me know what yall think. Thanks.

15 has abundant changes to electronics, dash and the addition of power wedge 2. both the 14 and 15 will have more freeboard than the 13 and with that comes larger storage compartments.

as for the actuators, I think it will be difficult to get the faster actuators from the 14/15 on the 13. The norm is that Malibu makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to get anything retrofitted to an earlier model. Larger tabs could probably be fabbed and installed but like the actuators, it is unlikely that you would be able to buy from a dealer.

I have ridden 13, 14 and 15 LSVs and didn't notice much difference in size or shape from any of them. Granted they were not ridden back to back to back, nor am I an expert by any means. IMHO any difference would be negligible and the bigger difference would be how the boat was dialed in.

With all that said, there were nice improvements each year with the most significant coming in 2015.

Thanks. I've been reading for 6 months in the upgrades of each, but now down to asking about the performance of each.

I'm in no way a pro either, nor is anyone that is ever with me. From what I've read, the pw2 only really helps when wakeboarding, we don't board a lot, looking for mainly a surf boat. So that may not necessarily be a must have anytime soon. As for the dash, and other upgrades, I just can't justify the 10-15k extra in price to get those amenities. Keep the opinions coming...

New hull in 14. I have never surfed the 13, I am sure it is great, but I know the new hull is awesome. As mentioned, the 15's have the updated dash and power wedge. Also, one note, the 14's had a one & done dash/layout. My friend has a 14 and I don't mind the dash at all. It wouldn't push me away from a boat I wanted at a good value.

Running surface of the 13/14/15 is the same according to Malibu. Changes in the hull were for more storage.

I don't think that is entirely true. I was told that the 2014 LSV was the first hull designed with Surfgate in mind. The 2013 LSV, 2013-14 VLX, and the 2013-15 247 all had Surfgate paddles added to existing hulls. Not saying that it doesn't work well on those hulls, but that they tweaked them when the redesign happened.

The PW2 makes a significant difference to surf wave! The wedge to me is more of a shaping tool than ballast. The wedge makes the wave taller and steeper. I have a 15 upgrade from a 14, the PW2 is significant improvement to your surf wave. Make no mistake I an not saying the 14 PW was bad, just 15 is better, significantly better.
