2016 23LSV upholstery cleaning

Ok, does anyone have the right method and tools to keep the upholstery clean?

All I've been doing since I got it in September was wiping with a damp cloth and magic eraser for anything that doesn't rub out with a damp cloth.

I want the secrets!!!!

It might be more of a mystery than a secret! I have concerns about keeping the new 16 material clean long term. That's just my opinion after spending some time in the dealer showroom boat, hopefully I'm wrong. You should be careful using magic eraser!

It may not be vinyl, but I bet it is still not UV resistant! 303 is still a good option if for no other reason than it is a safe substance that you can use on any surface and it will act as sunscreen for the non vinyl, Naugahyde or what ever high dollar proprietary surface they decide to label it!

What about custom seat covers?

I had seat covers from Primal Marine (now defunct) in my '02, and I had a local shop sew up covers for my '15. I used the bath sheets (top) from Costco and 0.5mm double-sided nylon covered neoprene (sides). The covers can be pulled off and put in the washing machine and I don't have to worry about people stepping on the seats, spraying sunblock, wiping sunblock, or burning themselves (great for kids!) on hot vinyl.

I know that nothing means anything on TMC without pictures, so now that the season is over I'll take some pictures of the boat and post them.

I cant recommend the 303 highly enough... think of it as a layer of protection, that will prevent stains from setting in...and provides Sunscreen as well... we put it on every 2 or 3 weeks once I notice stains are harder to get out..

I'm on the old vinyl ...so mileage may vary

the 2016 is not vinyl.

It is most certainly still vinyl.......

It's woven.......vinyl....

Same products to clean it, and the same products that will ruin traditional vinyl will also ruin the new stuff.

We stopped using 303 and went to Vinyl Sauce. The 303 does a great job but it's slick. We lay surfboards on the rear locker pads. When we used 303 it would transfer to the pads on the surfboards. First time you tried to surf, the pads on the boards would be so slippery you couldn't stay on the boards. Vinyl Sauce does the job and it cleans well too.

Another vote against the magic eraser. You might as well use sandpaper.

Here is a girl who came to my office because she took a magic eraser to her arm to get some paint off of her skin. It does this to your vinyl as well.

A few quick and aggressive rubs with the eraser and here is what you get:

Disagree. I love the stuff and use it about once a month. Slick as snot tho.

I must have a few magic bottles then. Been using the stuff for years and the only time it is slick is right after application. How much are you putting on at a time?

I use a sponge applicator and coat evenly. I suppose you could say I put it on thick. I go back over it with a dry cloth to buff out any streaks. People tend to slide around on ski and wakeboard take offs. And the walking on the rear hatch is straight up dangerous. I have the hard walk through pad on my VLX so I recommend people use it after I treat the interior.

Babes is all I've ever used in the interior. Works great and smells amazing. I use their Seat Soap for cleaning, then follow it with their Conditioner.

The issue with the new vinyl is the texture. I'm not sure any spray will magically clean it. Probably just gonna take a bit of elbow grease with a brush or something.

Sounds thick. I just spray and wipe, bottle of the protectant lasts me a few years applying every couple weeks during the season.
