2001 Sunsetter LXI

I bought a 99 Sunsettler LXI last year (based on the advice received in this forum and elsewhere) and absolutely love it. Great wake, great tracking, great room for family (I have 3 kids). All around a terrific boat.

We are the same. Routinely have 5 kids and 3 adults in the boat and never feel cramped.

You got a nice specimen, too. I almost bought that boat.

Headed down on Friday to check it out/purchase. Meeting at the local Malibu dealer where they will run compression and check the hours. Thanks for all the feedback...what a cool community. I'll let you know.

Did ya get it?

Hey all, thanks a ton for all the input and advise. I met the seller at the local Dallas Malibu dealership yesterday. The boat looked great and I was able to talk to the service manager directly about hours, compression, HDS, etc. Everything checked out and I brought her home. So excited to finally own a Malibu...the tough part now is waiting for next season. Thanks again for all the support...again, what a cool community. I'll be back for more advise soon.

In fact, I can't find a recent thread on towers. If any of you guys have any advise on a good tower for this boat let me know. Maybe I'll open up a new thread. Thanks again!

Nestled in her new winter home. Shopping towers if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks all.

Congratulations! Great looking SSLXi!
As others have said, the Star One Deluxe tower (Titan II) is a nice complement to the long, low lines of these boats. I mean, if you absolutely must put a tower on it.

Nice looking boat. I'd recommend keeping your eye out for a used Titan III tower. They look sweet on this boat. I had a 2000 with a T3, and loved it.

Yeah I agree a T3 would be the best but finding one can be harder than finding Bigfoot. So I guess it's up to the op on how long he wants to wait.

I say don't put a tower on it.

Yeah, just get used to tripping on all your stuff on the floor ;) Tower is practically mandatory for people who don't work from shore and have more than a couple people and their equipment onboard. Best mod we ever made to our last boat was the tower - no more wake boards and skis laying where everyone was trying to walk.

Well, there's always that I guess ;). Like you point out, depends on if he has a place on the water or has to put in for the day, yes a tower is a lifesaver for space in a DD boat. Plus, with the pylon in front of the rear seat, no tower means nobody in the back seat. With the tower and a wakeboarder/skier/footer you can at least use the back seat.

Nobody will ever convince me that the SSLXI isn't the best looking towboat ever made. My goodness the lines on that thing are beautiful.

Malibu's best work ever IMO.

I've often wondered if it would be feasible for a start up boat company to buy the SSLXi molds from Malibu, but a Fuel Injected 350 in it, some decent guages (no dash full of iPads), and nice interior, and start selling them for a reasonable price. I would be first in line to order one.
