Samson Typhoon Racks

We just bought a 2007 VLX, it came with Typhoon Spinning Racks.

I'm guessing racks are 2-3yrs old.

Anyone know how to adjust the locking mechanism or take these things apart?

I contacted Samson, they wanted 75 for repair, kinda tight on boat cash right now.

Was hoping someone out there had some ideas for a quick fix or adjustment.

DRV side rack doesn't lock at swing in position. It locks fine when swung out.

Just sways back and forth with turned in. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Ernie

Ernie, did you ever get this figured out? Mine won't stay locked in the deployed position. You can take apart the spinning mechanism to a certain point using standard allen wrenches and remove the ball bearing and spring. I did that, cleaned the mechainsm out as best I could using long wood handle q-tips from Harbor Freight. I stretched the spring a little to try and get more pressure applied to the locking ball bearing. Relubed, reassembled and worked fine for about a week or two then back to not staying locked. Taking the swivel mechainsm completely apart was not possible as it appears the assembly is pressed together and secured using roll pins that are pressed in. I did not want to run the risk of permanent damage by hammering out the pin.

Thanks,

Steve
