2015 LSV surf setup

Not having much luck with "Search" tonight.

My good friend just bought a brand new 2015 LSV23.

Boy am i jealous!!!!

Anyway, all he has is stock ballast at this time. I am going to lend him some 400 lb sacks i have for the back untl next year, we are almost done for this year and we just broke it in yesterday.

From what i am seeing so far the wedge makes a big difference in the wave and should be run pretty much as agressively(don't know if that is up or down, but can feel it as soon as it takes the full bite) when trying to make a surf wave.

Anyone have what they consider a best setup for surf on this boat. We will get a couple of runs in this week with the additional 400s in the back, but expect to have two 750s back there in the spring.

Oh yeah, stock Monsoon motor and the prop must be pretty aggressive as it hops right out of the water and is running 4,000 RPM to make 34 mph.

Thanks

So I cut and pasted your suggested search and got this exact thread,no other hits at all.

I tried searching it about four different ways without one hit before I posted.

I must be doing something wrong.

Do you know what scetion of the forums it was in an adate it may have been active?

We have 2015 23 LSV w torque prop-reg factory prop is not good for this setup.

2 - 1,000 lb bags in each rear locker 8.3 Ronix using plug n play

200 lead bags under back seat

1 400lb bag upfront on seat plus 100 lead

if just three of us then 2 150lb fatsac fatbricks mid cockpit on port side - we surf regular

plus 100 in lead on port side under fatbricls to prevent roll

we use 3 from top on wedge

wave is HUGE and long. speed is 10.8 to 11.2 depending on rider for reg side (port)

for goofy side the wave is even bigger so wedge is relaxed by 2-3 less and speed bumped by .2 or .3 or its just ridiculous for my 220 lb son and super super long w nice curl

also the factory hoses for rear lockers are undone from their retaining brackets so the hoses rest on top of bag otherwise they kink real bad. we removed the little bulkhead pieces on back of seat inside locker for more bag space to fill

if peeps in the boat, then no fatbricks and its OMG!!!

All with the standard motor? That's a heck of a lot of weight to be moving

yup. prop makes BIG difference. And here's the cool part......when done we dump for 4-5 mins including bag upfront, then put wedge in "lift" mode and head back at 20 mph while water unloads along the way. really nice at night to get back faster or when bad weather hits and want to escape. we began w 4 hrs on new boat and now have 134 hrs and nearly all is surfing. I get reg maintenance done. so far so good. Both son and wife compete so we do lots of practice/training. Anybody on lake Lanier - give a shout if surfers and love to chat.

Thanks everyone, great info.

Still working on the 2014 setup thread, but I am seeing the huge goofy side wake and just "OK" regular side wake due to prop wash I believe.

Had the same problem with the much less spectacular wake on my 2000 sunsetter vlx and just used a larger ghetto gate on the starboard side to correct the issue.

Everytime I tried listing that boat any more than minimally it actually made the wake worse. Someone may have already done this but I will probably try making a larger gate for the 2015 at some point.

For the regular side wave, take the same fantastic goofy setup, list the boat ever so slightly to the port and slow down by about .4mph. You have to overcome the prop rotation. This formula seems to help. Even keeping the weight even and just slowing down a hair seems to help. I have to admit though I don't have a ton of time experimenting.
