Can anyone identify this protective film for winter storage?

Recommended Posts

Bought my boat from MN Inboards last year and they did a real nice job of packaging it up for outside winter storage using a shipping cover and protective film to protect the rub points. I'm trying to find the film in this picture but can't quite figure out what it is. They call it "scuff tape". Anyone know what this is and where I can purchase it?

Edit: these forums absolutely suck for posting pictures. I linked my photobucket pics but they didn't show up.

This is called Anti-Shafe Tape. any marine dealership should be able to order this for you, out of a vendor called Land N Sea, or Dr. Shrink... its very thin, one siode is white the other is black. it is about $100 a roll... a roll can last you a long time...

I ordered mine form here:

I have moved all around the country over the years and always use this under the towable cover during the moves. I also keep some close by just in case I get caught in a storm to put on before trailering the boat with the cover on, since my cover is not gel coat friendly even on short hauls.

This was the cheapest place I could find, but maybe you can find a better price.
