2016 bimini and garage?

Dealer told me today the new biminis have an extra hinge so it can be folded and does not need to be removed to go into a garage. He was unsure if that was still an 8' ft garage though.

Can anyone confirm?

The 2016 bimini folds one time towards the front, rolls up, then slides back and is tied to the tower.

Your dealer is referring to the new "pistol" bracket. It's a G4 thing. Won't work on a G3.

The Great Lakes Bimini is a little bit more of a pain to deploy but when stored it fits comfortably under an 8ft garage door and does not have to be removed from the tower.

is that a g3 bimini? I'd buy a new bimini for the g3 tower if it didn't have to be removed.

Mine is a Commercial Sewing bimini. Has anyone attempted to modify the stock g3 bimini?

Either that or 14-20k garage modification....

Right, and we just modified our 7ft garage to a 8ft last year to fit the '14 lsv.

I don't even want to drop the tower. I know my 2012 VLX will fit under a 10 ft door but will the newer 2015 22VLX fit under a 10 door? Thinking about building a new garage and would like to stay at 10FT door not have to go to 12.

My 2014 23 LSV fits under a 10' door. Somebody said the new Malibu trailers ride a few inches taller than thever Boatmates. However, my Boatmate has settled a few inches since new as well. My guess is that a new VLX should fit under a 10' door without a problem.

Which tower? G4/G3.2 How much clearance do you have with your 2012? The new vlx is approx 4" taller than a 2012.

Sounds like the 2015 and newer will be close on 10 ft door height. My 2012 has the G3 and boatmate trailer with torsion axles reclocked to have only about 1.5" clearance tire to fender, and am at about 9'7".

That will be close but sounds like you should be able to squeek it in. You can always remove the tow ball on tower for a couple more inches of clearance if needed. Someone made a comment on here about the new Malibu trailers being a little higher than boat mate, not sure how accurate this is.
