Idle air control valve testing?

Recommended Posts

I read a topic about testing iac by connecting certain terminals on dlc connector. I can't find the thread on this, anyone know the specifics? The boat is a 1996 vlx.

Can't say for sure on that year, but my recollection is that on keyup the IAC moves/cycles...I could be wrong though.

Well I figured it out, if u put the ecm in service mode by jumping a and b on the dlc connection the iac valve moves. Mine was making a really loud sucking noise. Turns out that the timing was never adjusted correctly in service mode and when I did the timing in service mode the noise is gone and idles a lot better. Turns out discount mechanics aren't good, lol.
