Prop for 6.2 Raptor?

Thanks 85. For sure I had rather run a little high RPM than lug it. I guess I was just wondering if this was ok and to see if anybody else was doing about the same. I have worked with diesel engines a good bit and they all vary just like a CAT does better pulling when RPMs are lower and Detroit and Cummins needs to be run at higher RPMs. Also with the hard tanks and bags full I am pretty heavy and we surf a good bit.. Thanks

Sounds like could run more pitch then. I know my 15vlx was way over proped for my use. I'm thinking they are proping these boats for guys who run 10 people and extra ballast. I haven't decided on 16 yet but thanks for the heads up I would factory ordered with more pitch from the feedback here.

I did wake the world with the OJ 15x17. This is a great prop for the following

1. Tubing

2. Cruising

3. Wakeboarding/surfing with minimal ballast.

If you start running weight it turns into a dog REALLY quick. I rarely cruise our lakes are small, and will likely not pull another tube until WTW 2016. However surfing i typically run 5000 pounds, plus a couple clicks of wedge. I pulled the 15x17 today, and shipped back to OJ, they should have a 15x15.5 or 15x15.75 coming my way. I hope to have it in time for my Friday morning trip.

So I demo'd a 2016 23 LSV with Monsoon 410 and whatever the new Torque prop is. We sacked it out!! About 4k in ballast.

Notice the RPM's while surfing and how much extra throttle we have left.

Overall I was pretty happy with the new engine. Only downside I experiences is it's LOUD compared to the GM motors.

Similar image from last week, with FAE, should quiet you down and no steam....Not sure if Larry has the Ford set up yet, but worth a call.

Ixfe, is that the wedge position you usually run? 2 up from lift?

Yessir...

Anything less and I find the wave too flat. Anything more and it's not long enough.

Speed is usually between 11 and 11.5. And yes, I calibrated that demo boat as soon as it hit the water.

I received my prop from OJ yesterday 15x15.5. I am going out Friday morning and will give it a try. I have the 2249 15x14.25 on now. The previous prop was just too much pitch. It worked, but not as well as the 2249, I think this one will be the sweet spot. I will report back Friday afternoon.

Any body consider going to a 15.5 Dia prop yet? I know acme offers them, but its less than 1" hull clearance.

I have. I have one inch clearance. So a 15.5 would leave me with 3/4 inch.

Waiting for someone else to be the guinea pig! ;)

I got to put a couple hours on the 15x15.5 OJ this morning. Initial feeling is this one is a winner. RPM dropped by roughly 300 (10%) compared to 2249 and 15x17. I did not feel a loss of pulling power, it actually felt a little smoother than the 2249. Like it is cavitating less.

We did not have a wakeboard this morning, so I can't offer input. For surfing, this is likely as good as I am going to get. Pushed 5k plus full wedge without issue. I don't normally run full wedge I just wanted to see how it would handle the load, as we only had 3 person crew.

I hope to get out again Sunday, if I do I will update again.

I have a 2016 410hp tranny 1.76

I just ordered a #2849  15.50 x 15.00 cup105

Will I be the first to run a 15.5" prop on a 2016?

Please report back how you like it. I run the 15x17.75 and it is a little over pitched, but it runs very low RPM's and WOT is about 42mph.

The boat feels a lot better cruising, @ 22mph its 450rpm less, and this make all the deference in the world! A very common surf speed for us is 10.8mph and its 600rpm less, not sure it this is gonna hurt fuel consumption or make it better, but the engine still has power left over so im hopeful that it will not hurt fuel consumption. New prop also added almost 3mph, i was just looking a the mph gage on the boat also, no GPS.

I also tested the stock prop#2249 with full ballast 3500#, and she did get on plan with no wedge, and then I used the lift on the wedge and it made things a lot easier.

I did not try this test with the new prop, just didn't want to put the engine thru that. But i will say i have no doubt it could get the job done with the wedge in the lift mode.

I also only have 3/4" from the hull of the boat, and i do not see any damage, so FEAR NOT!!

I think the ACME #2849  15.50 X 15.50  .105cup is money for how i use my boat.

I also considered just having more cup added to the old stock prop, but i think it would only give me 1 more MPH.
