Which adhesive?

Recommended Posts

The screen has separated from the grille on my rear vents. Which adhesive is best? It looks like the factory used some sort of hot melt glue. The boat is a 2006 247 and a 2008 VLX. It seems like they all do it.

I think that stuff is more of an epoxy than a hot glue. BICBW I have been very impressed with the Gorilla glue line for some of the projects that I have done. I haven't done anything with the grills, just the grill frames so I couldn't comment on them. If not the Gorilla I would look into the 3M products for help. Yep, the JB route might work pretty well. IIRC it cures to a dull grey which might blend well with chrome.

I used two part epoxy a little more liberally than they did from the factory , couple small clamps and it was good for years.

A two part polyurethane is more flexible than an epoxy and has better water resistance and adhesion

Gorilla Glue worked great also.

However, I wont use it again. It expands.

I thought I had it all off, it expanded and ran.

Still haven't gotten it all off of the screen.

Anybody know what will break down Gorilla Glue?
