Favorite lakes Western States

This is two part question. One what is your favorite western lake and why. Second part would it be a good location for a 2016 WOW. West coast hasn't had one for a couple years.

I will go first. Favorite lake is lake Roosevelt, in central AZ, water is fairly clean, and you can usually get good water all day. This would not be a suitable location because no hotels, or facilities. My vote for west coast WOW would be Powell. House boat rentals are plentiful, as are hotels and camping.

Anyone interested in a 2016 WOW? I saw another thread from a couple years ago, with how far would you go for WOW, my answer 16 hours or so.

Not familiar with 2016 WOW, but here are some west coast lakes.

1. Obviously Lake Mead near Las Vegas. There is plenty of hotels and camping within 25 minutes. Water is clean, warm and smooth in various places. Only negative is the wind.

2. Lake Havasu at Lake Havasu City, AZ - Plenty of hotels and places to hang out.

3. Parker, AZ - Just off of Blue Water Casino. Centurion in hosting the World Wakesurfing Championship there this weekend.

4. Lake Las Vegas - It is a very small lake with hotels wrapped around it. Sometimes they allow a few sport boats on the lake for wakeboarding and surfing competitions.

this is a huge huge "region." Seattle is farther from Denver that St. Louis is from Portland Maine.

Tige guys do Lake Mead every year and seem to have some success there. I know TRR and stingreye have attended those events and might be able to speak to the venue. Las Vegas has its own power of attraction that could potentially draw more people.

Shasta has almost everything you'd want (VRBO rentals, cabins, camping, RV parks, houseboats). Getting everyone to a central location would be the challenge but that's not insurmountable.

Powell is way too far for a WOW for me (as I'm sure shasta is way too far for the Denver peeps).

This is what Nautique did last weekend. I forwarded this to my dealer and the west coast Malibu rep. I asked when BU was going to sponsor an event like this. Note it is not a sales demo day! And not a competition, just a weekend on the water.

Shasta is always a blast. And Powell is definitely on my list.

We've had a WOW at Shasta before, more than once. The lake would need a LOT of water to use the same venue we used in 2013 (I think it was called Hirz Bay?). I couldn't find the thread about it, but heres my pics from that weekend. It worked pretty well for us because people could camp or stay on a houseboat. I believe that is pretty important, allowing people to stay in a variety of different places, ie; camping, motels, houseboats, cabins, whatever. This encourages more people to come.

Other western lakes we've had a WOW at include Banks Lake in central WA. Lots of camping & cabins there (pics of the TMC WOW in 2012). And just east of there is Lake Roosevelt with camping, cabins & houseboats.... & over 150 miles of lake to ride. Both are probably too far north for most TMC members though. Also we had at least a couple of WOWs at Oroville in central CA, which has houseboats & floating campsites (pics of the TMC WOW in 2010).

The region you're talking about is just too big IMO. Needs to be broken out into a few differt WOW'S. They seemed to have died off in recent years around here but in the past we've had some cool ones!
