Mount a Wedge Plate and Wedge to a Malibu Response LXI?

The manual wedge is the old design Malibu used up til about 2006 or 2007 (I forget the exact year it was switched). The new version is often referred to as a floating wedge as it does not have a positive lock for keeping it in the down position. It stays down from gravity and the flow of water over the foil when the boat is moving.

The old version had some issues with the screws that attached the foil to the pivot arms. The screws could fail causing severe damage to the wedge (usually no harm to the boat). Also since the old version locked in the down position if you hit something with it you could have serious hull damage since the bracket was ripped out of the hull.

From a performance perspective there is some comparisons on the site but I feel they are subjective in nature so I don't think one is better than the other. However due to the changes made for the newer version I feel it's a better design since it's little more robust (welded arms to the foil and the fact it "floats" so if it hit and under water object there is less potential for damage to the hull).

I have an older style mounting plate (you still need the foil) I never got around to mounting on my 97 Sunsetter. If you cannot find a new style one pm me and we can discuss price (cheap).
