Wetsounds transom remote

Would this be a worthy replacement for older Sony transom remotes and ( head units except for armrest mounts?)

Don't know what they cost but using a phone is convenient for the observer seat area but not so worry free for a waterproof transom remote.

I am really liking that setup. The marine head unit/transom remote stuff has been sucking recently (especially since Alpine left the game), so this is fills a nice gap in products. I wonder what the cost will be.

I'll be watching for this with great anticipation. Never been very happy with the Sony multiple remote solution - too sensitive to the connections getting disturbed, then the buttons don't work well. I finally gave up and disconnected the front remote so that the transom remote will work reliably. A real PITA when driving to have to use the HU under the armrest.

I have no use for the HU, would love to just ditch it alltogether. But I do want the transom remote functionality, and haven't felt like I have any alternatives. That Sony remote has such a large footprint (hole), been difficult to figure out what else can work. Not sure how big this Wetsounds remote is, looks like it might be smaller than the Sony? Even so, if it turns out to be 'all that', might make it worth making a trim plate if needed to cover the space.

Good news...I'm planning to nuke my entire system and start over (except speakers) and this would be perfect. I absolutely hate not having a transom remote that actually plays well with the HU.
