Add subwoofer enclosure to existing system?

Hi Crew,

I am a completely stereo clueless and have a question. My last boat had an aftermarket system installed. 6 Focal in-boat speakers, an enclosed sub and a bunch of wetsounds on the tower, all well powered. And it sounded GREAT. Traded that boat in at the end of last summer on a 2009 VLX.

The VLX has soundpack 3, all Rockford Fosgate, two amps, the RF Punch EQ dial, 4 towers. It sounds loud but not crisp and not that much bass once the volume gets turned up loud enough to hear cruising.

So total dumb question possibly, but since the sub under the helm is not enclosed at all, could i not just build a sub box to enclose it where it is instead of getting new components to add bass?

Any advice would be appreciated!

doing a proper sub box is totally the "low hanging fruit" on your system. If the sub hasn't been ruined over the years from bottoming out without a real box, putting it into a real box will make it sound 100% better.
