Bilge Pump Hose

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how long and what size of hose is needed for the bilge pump on a 2007 VLX? I discovered this weekend that the hose has holes in several places and spews everywhere when the bilge turns on.

Well considering I just installed 2 backup float/bilge pumps and replaced the hose in my 2006 VLX...

It should be 3/4" hose.

I used this (more expensive, clear) 3/4" ballast hose that won't kink as easily as the typical ballast hose.

Or you can get the black version:

Or if you want to use the ballast hose that is currently there...

But I'm not sure why you would want to use this... seems like something as important as a bilge pump would want hose that is much harder to kink than the thin plastic it comes with.

Thank you for this! How long of a tube did you need?

They have the regular 3/4" black at every Lowes I've been to. I'd guess you need about 12'. Is your bilge in the center and run to a vent near inline with the rear seatback?
