Shopping for a used LSV

GTR

Recommended Posts

I'm shopping for a used 23 LSV or 247 and I'm trying to find that "bang for the buck" spot. I've been looking at 2009's to current with a $50,000 budget in mind. I would love to spend less, but I'm pretty sure that I would have to look at 08's and older. What is the oldest I can go and still have the major features of the current boats: hull, engines, electronics. I know there will be smaller changes thru the years, I'm just trying to stay close to current designs and features. Thanks

As for engines they have been pretty much the same for a long time, I would try to get a 10 or newer with a g3 tower. Would not hurt my feelings if it did not have the MTC (touch screen controls) but it is personal preference.

For under 50k you can easily find an 04-08 lsv and have a great hull for wakeboarding and surfing but not have the expensive electronic controls to replace later. It's hard to find the newer ones for under 60.

yes, but rare. most are going to be the monsoon 5.7. Some hammerheads, some 8.1s. 8.1 was phased out early into the 2010 model run. I think you could get the 6.0 starting in late 2010.

Yes, we have a 07, 23lsv with the 8.1 engine. It is great especially if you are going to surf. We have stock ballast along with an additional 2500# and 4-8 people and it will surf at 11mph at only 3,000 rpms. The engine is hardly working it seems. If it was a year or so later I would consider selling for a newer surf gate based boat, but not sure I could make that jump now.
