Problem with LXI

Recommended Posts

My 06 LXI has been perfect until recently, When I pull a skier thru the course, the first 3 or 4 passes everything is Great and then The engine sputters when I throttle the skier up and as I go down the course the Check engine and alarm comes on. If i turn the igniton off & back on and start it goes away for a while and then sputters a bit or "hiccups"when throttling a skier up. The check engine etc might not come on again for a while, but eventually it will.

I have replaced SparK plugs & wires,Distr.cap,Rotor. I`ve used a hand held temperature gauge and all cylinders are equal & fine.

Does anyone have or had similar problems that may offer a solution?, I`ve also put a dime in the Emergency cut off switch, but wonder if it could be that switch?

I`d sure appreciate any feed back

I replaced the fuel filter & checked all co nnections, it still "sputters" after pulling skiers for a few passes, and alarm comes on.

It only "Misses,or sputters on the pullup, after that it runs perfectly fine. This only happens after I pull a skier or skiers for about 10 passes on the course.

I hesitate buying a coil & modem until I hear from someone.

Thanks

I've had the exact same thing happen twice on our Sunsetter and it was the coil both times. Coils will normally fail when hot. We would ride for a bit and usually well into the first ride or the beginning of the second ride the boat would fall on it's face. We'd open the engine cover and poke around for a bit, once it cooled off we could ride again for a while. The second time it happened like a dummy I rebuilt the entire carb thinking there was no way a year old coil could be the issue....wrong. It was. I now carry a spare onboard. Too easy to swap and cheap enough not to.
