Bluetooth won't connect

Recommended Posts

Have 2014 VTX. Bluetooth thru mobile gateway always worked great until this weekend, now it won't connect (always says "unavailable"). Tried turning the Mobile gateway on and off, forgetting device, other phones, etc. but nothing seems to work. Suggestions?

I seemed to be having similar issues. Most of the time I could go to the iPhone and "forget device" but sometimes that wouldn't work either. In specific order I had to turn off Bluetooth on the mobile gateway, then forget device on the phone, turn off Bluetooth on the phone, turn mobile gateway back on, turn phone Bluetooth back on, select the mobile gateway, accecpt pairing invite on the touchscreen and then it would work.

This is probably my biggest complaint about the new boat. And my wife and daughter use an app for their music that can only be controlled on the phone. That annoys me that I can't switch songs on the head unit.

Add the Bluetooth dongle on the head unit. Then you can change the tracks.

X2. Also, you might need to re-name the radio.

I have renamed my radio.

I don't understand the dongle thing though. When I look it up, it appears it's a aftermarket connection for Bluetooth. What is any different about that versus the Bluetooth connection that I already have? Why should I be able to chance tracks if I use an aftermarket dongle?

Also, I know I'm off topic to the original post but I also put 50 songs on a memory stick by dragging right from iTunes. When I put it in the boat I could only access 5 songs and the head unit wouldn't display any of the info about the songs. What gives with that?

If you install the Fosgate Bluetooth dongle, you can then change tracks from the head unit or the transom remote. With the Maliview connection, you need to change it on your phone. Also, the sound quality seems much better.
