Little help on this hose...

Recommended Posts

So installed some 800 ballast bags in the lockers not too long ago and this weekend I planned on re-enforcing the dividers... upon doing this I saw this hose just laying limp and not connected to anything.... I cannot find where the hell this connects too. No leaks and im not taking on water, Im sure I would have notice this being on the lake almost everyday after work too if there were a leak. On the hose it says heater hose 5/8" size.

The hose just runs around the back of the boat, behind the engine under the pulleys laying on the hull and then goes hidden under the locker.... should have takin pics of that too. But you cannot see what its connected too.

Would this be linked to the heater possibly? I just got the boat about a month ago, still getting familiar to inboards..

I have a heater but no shower.... possible it had a shower and they removed it and left the hose just hanging like that?

Going to look on the block when I get home tonight.

Does it run near your cooler? All of the boats with coolers have a hose running into the bilge for to drain the melted ice.

That's the only thing I can think of other than the disconnected heater or shower.

No cooler in my boat. Its got to be for the heater... god... if that was unhooked for this long wouldnt there be water spilling out from somewhere? Wouldnt I be taking on water?

It looks like they took the hose off the engine and plugged the hole with a 1/2" npt plug. Must have a leaky heater core. There is a NAPA part number for the replacement core floating around the forum here. If you buy from heatercraft it will be really expensive.

Look for another hose disconnected or a shut off valve. The heater should be fed by a fitting on the top of the engine and return to the circulation pump or before the raw water pump.
