Belt Replacement for a 94 Echelon LX 350 Magnum

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time finding the correct replacement belt for my engine. Does anyone know the part number? I am getting a loud squealing noise when it is warming up. It goes away at higher RMP or once the engine is warm. I smell a little burnt rubber as well. I assume it is a worn belt that needs to be replaced. I believe it is a V-belt but want to make sure I get the correct one. Thanks.

You should be able to take it to any decent auto parts store and get a replacement, it is a standard V belt of a specific length depending on which belt. You can allow some variance for the alternator belt as that has an adjustment for tightness. You might check that the belt tension is correct, although if you have spun it a few times, it is probably due for a replacement and keep the old one for a spare.

I am assuming given a '94, it is a V and not a serpentine belt, either way, automotive belt will fit.

Check the alternator at the top mounting bolt. My alternator housing keeps getting out of round causing a vibration and has broke the tension bracket twice now. I had the alternator filled and drilled before, but it's out of round again and broke the bracket hits summer. For some reason the bushing or washer keeps eating into the housing. Might be a cause for the squeal.
