Engine Fault Code Gurus...

Any thoughts on these:

IMG_5615_zpsfyam45os.jpg

the SPN:173 FMI:3 code is coming up repeatedly. The SPN:65599 FMI:7 code appears to have happened once.

I do realize that "voltage above normal or shorted high" comes up when components go bad, but I gotta say it looks like my alternator's voltage regulator is getting a little wonky. I don't look at voltage religiously, but usually I recall seeing it in the 14.4-14.7 range while underway. Today it was reading 14.9-15.1 when it started throwing codes. My stereo battery, on the other side of a blue sea add-a-battery vsr was showing 14.8, where it usually shows 14.4-14.5 (on a separate, not necessarily calibrated gauge).

Thoughts appreciated!

(BTW of COURSE tomorrow is forecast to be the glassiest day of the summer, 95*, and we got my son off of his butt to get a full crew of kids. Guess I'm gonna have to go see Straight Outta Compton instead).

SPN 175 FMI 3 Engine oil temperature (EOT) sensor circuit voltage above normal or shorted high. Which seems to indicate that either the wire is not making a good connection or the sensor is bad.

Second code is a misfire. Manual below, maybe you can step through the diagnostic procedures.

Don't know where you found this manual, but I really appreciate the link.
