RPM gauge wrong?

Recommended Posts

wcalem

we have an 05 v-ride. This morning the RPM gauge was running really high: 6000+ at about 21 mph. The engine sounds completely normal and the perfect pass when set to display RPMs was reading what I would expect - around 3000. Is it possible for the RPM gauge to be wrong and/or need to be calibrated?

if it's the combo single line pp w tach gauge then it's a known issue: corrosion within the unit.

totally repairable. check this thread
