MDC delete... Have any of you done it?

Hey guys,

I remember seeing a post recently on a mastercraft forum (I think) about someone who bypassed the MDC, and installed all new aftermarket gauges. I don't have the link at this moment, but I'm wondering if any of you guys have tried it, and if the wiring colors would be the same for early model malibus.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

a friend had a mastercraft that the MDC was fried and he bypassed the MDC installing Faria gauges. Using a multimeter he was able to identify the wires to the gauges. I remember the fuel sender unit would not read, so he had to change the fuel float to send the right signal. It was fairly simple.

Did he do a write up?? I think that may have been the one I saw, or he just did the same thing, cause the one I saw used the Faria gauges. Think that will be my winter project

Nope... not a write up... but I remember it took him no more than 2 hours... the guy is a good mechanic so he has pretty good skills to do this kind of stuff... if I remember right the color wires that gets to the MDc matches the ones on the gauges... so it is pretty easy to identify which is which.
