2016 Wakesetter VTX

It will be interesting to see if it ski's better or surf's better. That is really the story with the VTX, trying to push the envelope in opposite directions.

Sounds like the adapted the TXi hull into a slightly larger foot print. I will be very interested to ski this to be honest. Not sure if I can afford it but will be interesting to ski.

Malibu is sticking with the formula on this one. Still a very nice looking boat.

I'm really curious to see what they do when they start updating the MXZ series boats. The current VTX, VLX, and LSV all took their design cues from the MXZ line. I'm guessing we will see larger changes when they update that line. As IXFE mentioned a while ago, perhaps the MXZ line will go ultra-deep freeboard to distinguish it from the other wakesetters and compete with the X20, X23, G21, G23, G25.

Wow...could this be the first new Malibu boat that we hear about through Malibu before it's leaked through other sources and all over this site?

I think we are all too busy drinking "G Killer" kool aid to be speculating over the VTX redesign.

No I believe someone had mentioned a VTX redesign with the new dash.

I mentioned that I was told two things, that it isn't changing other than getting the new dash and that it was being redesigned. I guess we know which is right now.

Had my vtx for 7 years loved the boat everything except rough water ride after having gone 22vlx that's a tough call if to go back to a vtx for me.

My dealer said they have more freeboard, and he thought they'd surf quite a bit better, and maybe not ski quite as well. Hard to tell from the video, those guys can rip a ski and make just about any wake look good. New dash looks nice too!

That video showed a TON of spray at speed. Not good for slalom if you can't see. Will wait for reports before passing judgement but wow on that spray...

Pansy, shouldn't be looking at the boat anyways ;)

I'm thinking of making jump from my VTX to VLX or Lsv. How does it compare? Is your VLX a diamond hull?

The new VTX cabin has 4 speakers, 2 in the walkthrough, and 2 on the bow. Quite the upgrade to the stereo system. My 2014 has 2 cabin, 2 walkthrough, then 2 tower speakers. Looks like additional cup holders, and a nice little sitting area above the swim platform. I like the looks of the 2016, it'll be interesting to hear how it skis.

If I was in the market.....and could actually afford it without comprising my current financial goals, I'd be taking a serious look at this. As ahopkins said, I'd like to ski it.

You're not supposed to reach goals! That's what I keep telling my wife anyway...

I went from an 03 vlx to an 08 vtx diamond to a 2015 vlx diamond, all very diff boats, vtx compared to 22vlx was way more maneuverable, responsive etc, but cramped space and for rough water very harsh ride. if the 16 vtx has a new hull maybe that's improved? Ps monsoon 340 in the vtx was 42-43mph boat, 22vlx 350 monsoon is 37-38mph boat. Edited by catalac
