Rudder box seal

I have a 92 Euro that needs a new rudder box seal kit and couldn't justify the price of what options are out there. So I have a machinist working on building a replacement for the style that does not have the nut on top, we are going to relocate the o-ring placement due to shaft wear and are going to add one more inside for added security. It will be made of plastic like the factory one and will keep cost down versus the brass that is currently available thru some others. I don't have numbers as of yet but just wanted to put this out there. Currently the one being built will fit 1.25 rudder shaft OD which is what I have. I know we can get them done with 1" shaft also. Just wanted to put this out there to let everyone know that the parts you can't get from OE manufacture will soon be available and not break the bank. Thanks Curt 425-772-1978 Outta Boundz Repair.

Just a quick update, was chatting with machinist and we are going to probably use Delrin inserts with as stated earlier one more seal on inside and two outside. Still are going to relocate seals as to years of wear on rudder shaft. Don't as of yet have a $ number but I know it will be a lot less $ than the current option of changing rudder, box and tiller arm. Thanks Curt 425-772-2978. I forgot E-mail luvsnow612@ Comcast.net.

Thanks Wrench Monkey, we will keep everyone up to date. Myself and my machinist both have regular jobs and do our stuff after that. Hopefully should have some final numbers in the next week. I hope others can chime in also because the $ to replace this stuff is not right. Thanks Curt

The piece is done in the boat no leaks. Machinest is out of town right now. Cost will be under $200 per piece shipped. Will update soon just need a few more updates from suppliers. Thanks Curt 425-772-2978
