I made the father Josh Welsh the funds manager so I wouldn't have to get involved in the money part. Why is it so hard to understand sometimes people just do nice things?

That's a pretty bad accusation. What is it about being behind a keyboard that makes people say things they'd never say in person? It's sad that so many on this site are this callous. I expected more

I think a lot of folks just have goFundMe overload and are skeptical when the knee jerk reaction to any problem is taking to the internet looking for money.

This is a tragic story and one that could happen to any of us. Thank you for setting this up for the family. We will pray for a great recovery.

Regarding insurance and those topics, there are costs of an accident that the insurance doesn't cover, even with great coverage - hotels, meals, travel costs, care for other kids, etc. And depending on their jobs, they may not be getting paid while spending days in the hospital - none of us know.

I always keep tourniquets on the boat for this very occurrence. A tragedy can happen to anyone, anywhere.
