Back in the days on one of our woods rides one of the group lost it. He and his bike on one side of a tree and lower leg on the other side. A bad compound fracture! When we found him I could tell things were not good, his coloring or lack of it, white. I ask him how he was doing, Its broken! I just felt his leg through his pants and I could tell, blood and bones. With out much to work with we checked to see the amount of bleeding. Not any mass blood loss. So using belts and oak branches to isolate and splint the leg. Sent two riders back for a 4x4 truck after finding what looked like the best chance to get even close to pick him up. Put him back on a bike and walked it to the truck. Now two more hours to a hospital. No cell phones back then. Got him in and the Doc's started looking him over. A young Doc asked how long it had been since it happened? Six hours or so! Why didn't you call for an air lift? The old Doc looks up and said, This isn't T.V. !!!!!!!

He also had to be postponed for some time as a hart attack victim came in after us. He didn't make it. In the long run four days in the hospital before they let us take him back to a hospital for more treatment. The old Doc did such a nice job the specialist never reset the brakes.

On the way home he asked to stop to take a leak. So he is having a hard time standing at the urinal, I told him I hold you up but you can handle your own junk!

Not related to my Malibu but wakeboarding in general. My son got one this week (19 years old , second summer of wakeboarding) when landing off a high jump that cleared the wake. Said it popped when he landed before he fell. I didn't see it so don't know for sure but I don't wakeboard, just surf and barefoot. This seems to be a common injury with wake and snow boarders alike. I wonder why they don't make them with a release like ski-boots?

Because if one releases and the other doesn't.......
