09 VTX Stereo Amp Upgrade Q's

Thinking hard about replacing the factory Rockford amps with two JL Audio amps to drive the four cabin speakers, two tower speakers, and the single 12" sub.

  • Will the JL Audio M600/1 sub amp be too much power for the factory sub? Any reviews/recommendations?
  • Is the JL Audio M600/6 six-channel sub a good option to power the six speakers?

Also open to other brands and suggestions. Thanks.

The m600/1 would deliver 400w rms to the factory 4 ohm woofer. Thats respectable power and should sound good if the woofer is in a solid enclosure. It would be nice to have more wattage for the tower speakers.

I would consider using a Wet Sounds HT-6 for the 4 in-boats and sub and then go with an HT-2 for the tower speakers. Its a little less wattage for the sub, but not enough to make an audible difference IMO, but way more power available for the two in-boat pair and tower pair. if you want to stick with the JL M series, then consider the m1000/5 and the m/400/4 combo.
